Bridging Progress:
Infrastructure as a Catalyst for Latin America’s Development

    Werner Ahlers is the co-head of Sullivan & Cromwell’s Latin America Group and a partner in the firm’s M&A and Finance Groups. He is a graduate of both Harvard College and Yale Law School. Widely regarded as one of the leading New York lawyers advising on Latin America–related transactions, Werner counsels clients on high-stakes, complex cross-border matters across the region. He has extensive experience in infrastructure and other strategic sectors, including energy and natural resources. His practice and work are regularly recognized by business and legal publications and rankings. In addition to his client practice, he is deeply involved in pro bono and diversity initiatives. He serves as co-chair of S&C’s Diversity Committee and as co-chair of the NYC Bar’s Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice. He is also a frequent write on matters effecting cross-border legal practice in the region, serving as co-editor and contributor to the latest edition of The Guide to Corporate Crisis Management, published by Latin Lawyer, and a frequent speaker at conferences and other events focused on investment and legal practice in Latin America.
